The traffic accident rate last year has seen a 3.4 percent increase compared to the previous year.
According to the report ‘2013 Traffic Safety Plan’ by the City of Gwangju, the number of traffic accidents last year was around 8500, up by 281 from 2011.
Among days of the week, Friday has the largest number of traffic accidents with 1340, followed by Saturday with 1320 cases and Wednesday with 1230 cases.
In addition, after office hours has been reported to see the most number of accidents with 1130 occurring between the rush hours of 6 and 8pm and 1050 between 8 to 10pm.
