MND expresses a stance on China’s declaration of ADIZ

MND (Ministry of National Defense) of Korea will deal with the issue that China has declared ADIZ (Air Defense Identification Zone) over the East China Sea, at the third Korea-China Defense Strategy Dialogue.

Vice Minister of National Defense, Baek Seung-joo, will meet the vice chief of the General of the People’s Liberation Army, Lieutenant General Wang Guanzhong, and make the meeting be a place not only for reconfirmation of both countries based on the mutual strategic cooperative relationship but also for discussion regarding the defense-related follow-up measures of the Korea-China Summit held last June.

Moreover, both countries will exchange their opinions about the Korean Peninsula and regional the security situation and discuss development of cooperation of exchange in the defense area between Korea and China. Vice Minister Baek in particular is planning to make our government’s position clear on China’s declaration of ADIZ that the people’s concern has been increasing recently.

The Korea-China Defense Strategy Dialogue is a regular high-level council for national defense annually held by both countries, and this time would be the third time since Korea and China agreed to establish the Vice Minister-level strategy dialogue at the bilateral Defense Ministers’ Conference in July 2011; the first meeting was held in Seoul in the same month.
