The highest temperature is forecasted to reach more than 30 degrees Celsius this weekend in Gwangju, posing concerns for a power shortage.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, the hotter weather compared to last year will continue this weekend with 30 degrees being the highest on the 15th and 32 degrees being the highest on the 16th.
The administration announced that the rising temperatures should alleviate with an incoming seasonal rain front expected from the 18th.
Due to the current heat wave the Korea Power Exchange has issued power alerts 7 times in June, already, to include the ‘attention’ watch on the 5th, and the ‘preparation’ watch on 7 and 10th.
