Mayor of Gwangju, Gang Woon-tae went abroad as a part of effort to bring the World Aquatics Championship to the region yesterday.
Mayor Gang first plans to head for the City of San Antonio, Texas in the United States to take part in the summit meeting for the 2013 Urban Environmental Accords or UEA.
In addition, Mayor Gang will move on to Barcelona, Spain on the 18th and participate in the FINA general meeting on the 19th where the host city for the 2019 World Aquatics Championship will be selected.
According to the Gwangju city officals, during the visit to the Barcelona, Mayor Gang plans to put all effort to appeal to FINA officials for Gwangju to host the Championship.
