Green light on Jeju exports to Southeast Asia

Jeju Province recently embarked on a trade mission to Southeast Asia, accompanied by six Jeju-based companies. The trip was from October 21st to 29th, and was organized through the Jeju Regional Headquarters of the Small Business Corporation. The trade mission achieved $600 thousand in contracts through consultations with local buyers.

The province visited Manila, Jakarta, and Bangkok during the mission. The main products up for export included animated TV programs, accessories made from Jeju magma, natural cosmetics derived from Jeju’s environment, and oligosaccharides. Most of the products received high levels of interest and favorable reviews from buyers.

In particular, Thailand's local cable station, TRVE VISION, signed a contract to license the Jeju character 'Mong-ni,' and will broadcast the animation for two years beginning in March.

Home shopping companies in Indonesia, like the DINAMIKA TIGA PLLAR Corporation, purchased various accessories, such as magma bracelets.

In addition, Thailand’s SCG Trading Company requested sample items of volcanic bricks and tiles, as well as paint products.

Companies in Indonesia and Thailand have also asked for price negotiations and sample items, and are prompting high expectations for Jeju’s expansion into the Southeast Asian market.
