Children of multiracial families visit NA

Children of multiracial families from around the country visited the National Assembly.

The National Assembly Secretariat invited 60 children and their parents to its annual children’s program for multiracial families, which was staged for two days from May 1 at the Memorial Hall.

The program opened with Secretary-General Chung Jin-suk’s welcome remarks, followed by the introduction of the National Assembly to the children and of multiracial family policies to the parents. They also had a chance to listen to Rep. Lee Jasmine (Saenuri Party), an immigrant-turned Assemblywoman.

On the second day, they visited Gyeongbokgung Palace and the National Folk Museum where they had the opportunity to experience Korean traditional culture.

The Secretariat stated that the program is aimed at enhancing the public understanding of multicultural families as well as putting into practice its goal of an open parliament.
