ROK and Malaysia to Hold the 2nd Policy Planning Consultation

The 2nd Policy Planning Consultation between the Republic of Korea and Malaysia will take place in Seoul on November 27, with Director-General for Policy Planning of the ROK Foreign Ministry Shin Beom-chul and his Malaysian counterpart Zainol Rahim Zainuddin leading their respective delegations.

In the forthcoming session of the ROK-Malaysia Policy Planning Consultation, a consultative mechanism between the diplomatic policy planning authorities of the two countries, the two sides will exchange views on their respective processes for setting mid- to long-term diplomatic strategies as well as the diplomatic and security situations on the Korean Peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region.

The ROK side, in particular, will take the opportunity to learn about the view of Malaysia and the rest of ASEAN on the situation in Northeast Asia and elaborate on the ROK government’s diplomatic visions, including the Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation Initiative.

The ROK Foreign Ministry holds policy planning talks with its key partners in order to use their outcomes in establishing its mid- to long-term diplomatic strategies and to strengthen its capabilities for analyzing the international situation. This year, the ROK has held such talks with Singapore, Turkey, the UK, China, the US, Japan and Germany.
