The President of HGU Attended the Korea-China Presidents’ Forum and Signed an Agreement with Chongqing University.

On November 13, 2014, Handong Global University and Chongqing University signed an agreement for academic exchange and student exchange at Redisson Blu Hotel, Chongqing city, China.

Both schools mutually agreed to promote joint education and research activities, exchange faculty for research and lectures, and to promote student exchange and academic exchange.

Chongqing University is a national university which was founded in 1929. In 1942, the school was elevated to the status of a university. Now the school is one of the major universities under the Ministry of Education. In addition, this school is included in the 211 Project and the 985 Project led by the Chinese government’s educational innovative projects. The 211 Project is an ambitious project to build the world’s best 100 universities in China in order to prepare contributors for the 21st Century. The 985 Project is a project to nurture world-class universities by designating various places to be major universities including Beijing University and Tsinghua University.

President Soon-heung Chang delivered a presentation under the theme of ‘The Social Responsibility of the Universities’ at the 6th Korea-China Presidents’ Forum. In particular, the President presented HGU’s green appropriate technology development and its transfer as a film so it drew great interest.

HGU was designated as the host university of the UNITWIN program by UNESCO and now operates international entrepreneurship training courses, comprehensive local community development projects, green appropriate technology projects, open educational resources with Open Course Ware projects, and joint educational courses.
