30MW wind farm to be installed in Dongbok-ri, Jeju-Do

The Jeju Energy Corporation has planned to install a 30 MW wind power generation plant in the Dongbok-ri area in the northeast side of Jeju Island. 60 billon won is to be invested in the construction, set to take place from the end of this year to October of next year.

The corporation will conclude all necessary investigations as to the feasibility of the project, and will start construction beginning in November, 2013.

The Energy Corporation said that Dongbok-ri is the best area for the wind energy generation plant, and they expect the location will also help minimize construction fees due to shorter transmission lines than the neighboring plant in Gasi-ri.

Worries over environmental damage of the landscape will most likely be dispelled as the project will make use of already wasted land to the east.

Dongbok-ri villagers are showing support for the project, anticipating the new clean image for the area and increased revenue effects.

The Dongbok-ri wind power plant will generate 657,000 MWH of electricity and 14 billion won in electricitysales revenue will be generated every year.
