Snail Music Concert entertains people waiting for civil applications

Vehicle Registration Office routinely stages the Snail Music Concert

The Suwon City Vehicle Registration Office routinely stages the ‘Snail Music Concert’ inside its office to the warm responses of visitors.

Located at Gosaek-dong, the Vehicle Registration Office handles more than seven thousand applications a day. In particular, during the afternoon when the office handles an especially large number of applications, visitors have to wait approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

To relieve the boredom of waiting, the office conceived of a creature known for its ‘aesthetic slowness,’ a snail. The office then launched regular concerts under the name of the ‘Snail Music Concert’ from March of last year. The concert aims to soothe visitors who have to wait for a long time, and also gives them something to enjoy.

At the concert staged this past 6th under the theme of ‘Vehicle Registration Concert with a Classic Live Performance,’ a woodwind quintet performed popular pieces including ‘The Entertainer,’ ‘Five Easy Dances,’ ‘Circus Bee,’ and more. The music delighted the ears of more than 130 visitors who came to the office.

A city official said, “The concert aims to relax applicants during their long wait, providing them with emotional comfort. We hope they will comfortably finish their tasks and return happily to their homes.”

Beside the concert, the Suwon City Vehicle Registration Office is planning to improve the environment of the public service center, install a walking track around the parking lot for the benefit of local residents, plant wild flowers on its grounds, and more. At the end of last February, the office opened a ‘Photo Exhibition of Similar Faces,’ providing an enjoyable spectacle to visitors.
