GGGI to Draw up a Blueprint for Substantial Mid- to Long-term Development at its 4th Council Meeting

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), which was launched as an international organization in October 2012, will convene its fourth Council meeting in Songdo, Incheon, on December 5 and 6.

In the meeting, the participants will approve the GGGI’s projects and budget plans for 2014-2016 as well as a variety of regulations and discuss ways for the body to expand its realm and make substantial advances in the mid to long term as a full-fledged international organization. Included in the agenda are the policy for its overseas offices, ways to mobilize financial resources and strategies to expand its membership.

On the sidelines of the Council meeting, in particular, a business roundtable for participants of the Council meeting and delegates from companies related to green growth will take place to seek ways to reinforce public-private partnership (PPC) in the GGGI.

On December 4, the opening ceremony of the GGGI Office in Songdo will take place at the G-Tower in the city in the presence of the Incheon Mayor. The GGGI Office, when opened, is expected to help create synergetic effect with the Green Climate Fund down the road.

Given more-than-ever vibrant discussions under way at the UN and other global stages with regard to climate change and sustainable development, the GGGI’s role in seeking sustainable development through green growth is expected to further grow in importance.
