Celebratory Music Concert for Gwangju Human Rights Award Held by Kim Jong-ryul

The 2013 Gwangju Human Rights Awards and concert took place at the May 18th Memorial Culture Center last Saturday at 7 p.m. The concert was hosted by the composer of the song, ‘임을 위한 행진곡’, Kim Jong-ryul.

The concert was held to congratulate this year’s winners of the Gwangju Human Rights Awards, the Argentinian Human Rights Organization, H.I.J.O.S. and the special award winner – Indonesian Weekly Magazine, Tempo.

The symbolic, ‘임을 위한 행진곡’, or ‘March for the Beloved’ was sung at the end of the concert and other songs composed by Mr. Kim Jong-ryul took to the stage, Saturday. 

After the concert, Mr. Kim called the recent government’s attempt to remove the song from the official May 18th ceremonies as a highly political movement to deny the event's history and is anachronistic.
