Combined Firefighting Exercise with the US Military Fire Department Air Force 15th Wing
The ROKAF 15th Special Mission Wing conducted a large-scale ROK-US combined firefighting exercise with the US military's fire department at an ammunition warehouse outside the base recently.
In particular, with the participation of 4 fire departments (Seongnam, Bundang, Gangnam, and Seocho) near the base along with the US military fire department, this exercise contributed to establishing not only a ROK-US combined firefighting support system but also a disaster response posture for peace and wartime between the military and the government.
7 fire trucks and around 100 personnel participated in this exercise, and the exercise was carried out based on a scenario where a large fire in an ammunition warehouse gets out of control and spreads to a forest fire.
Lieutenant Colonel Jeon, Sang Hak, commander of the installation battalion, stated, "This exercise provided an opportunity to improve our rapid firefighting capabilities against accidental fires which is a key aspect in maintaining our operations response posture. Based on this improvement, we will make full preparations to protect our combat power by establishing a joint government and military firefighting system as well as a combined ROK-US firefighting system."
