KT, the highest speed 'The adoption of giga Wi-Fi technology'

KT having 200,000 Olleh Wi-Fi APs worldwide as a single operator opened the era of giga Wi-Fi by commercializing its giga Wi-Fi service that is 10 times faster than fixed line Internet access. 
KT (Chairman, Lee, Suk-Chae, www.kt.com) announced on April 29 it already applied its giga Wi-Fi service to the Gwanghwamun area in downtown Seoul and plans to expand it to the Gangnam District, the Seoul Metropolitan area and other major cities nationwide at the end of April.  

Since smartphones equipped with chip set modules applying IEEE’s universal standard, 802.11ac to support 1.3Gbps are being currently launched KT customers can download 1GB movie files in 10 seconds in giga Wi-Fi zones. This speed is 10 times faster than that of fixed line Internet.

Paricularly, KT, which has the world’s best Internet infrastructure (580,000Km), provides more optimized giga Wi-Fi service than other operators in spite of heavy traffic on the basis of its fiber optical communication technology.

“KT had experience of launching its premium Wi-Fi service in Hong Kong in cooperation with China Mobile in 2011” KT added “To grow together with a venture company, Kisan Telecom, KT has exported 5,000 premium APs to Japan’s SoftBank, and plans to launch its giga Wi-Fi services to the global market based on these experiences.”  

“This commercialization of giga Wi-Fi services makes it possible to offer high-speed and high quality services to KT customers” said Oh, Sung-Mok, manager of KT Network Division “It also plans to make shift to 7Gbps giga Wi-Fi services on the basis of its leadership and competence in Wi-Fi technology.”
