SHI Wins Order for Seven Container Ships Worth KRW 642.9 Billion


SHI Wins Order for Seven 9,300TEU-Class Container Ships from CSAV, Chile 
Received Orders Worth KRW 1.1 Trillion Just Two Days After an Order for Two LNG Carriers Worth KRW 462.3 Billion Won on 15th

Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 16th that it won an order amounting to KRW 642.9 billion for seven 9,300TEU-class container ships from a Chilean shipper, CSAV, of which. 

The company won orders worth KRW 1.1 trillion just two days after the KRW 462.3 billion order for two LNG carriers it won on the 15th.

The new container ships will be consecutively delivered by the first half of 2015.

With more than 50 building berths, CSAV is Latin America’s largest shipper. It has previously ordered seven 8,000TEU-class container ships from Samsung Heavy Industries.

As the terms of this contract include options for multiple units of vessels, it is expected that Samsung Heavy Industries will win additional orders.

A spokesperson for Samsung Heavy Industries said, “It is critical for a shipyard to maintain a stable shipbuilding volume. We are securing a stable workload by winning selected orders for LNG containers and large-sized vessels.”
