"Service Members Need to Be Healthy in Order for the Combat Power to Get Stronger"


Defense Minister Kim emphasizes this during his congratulatory address at a policy seminar to discuss ways to improve the military's medical system.

Defense Minister Kim, Kwan Jin, at a policy seminar to discuss ways to improve the military's medical system on 15 April, stated, "We must develop the national defense medical support system into a system that is easily accessible and can be trusted by the service members in line with the public's standards in order for our military to earn the respect and confidence of the public and service members."

This policy seminar, hosted by National Assembly members including Park, In Sook, Baek, Gun Ki, and Song, Young Geun, provided the opportunity to examine the current status of the military's medical system and discuss ways to improve the services provided by this system.

Defense Minister Kim, through his congratulatory address, shared the importance of improving the medical system by saying, "The physical status of our service members needs to be strong in order for the military's tangible and intangible combat power to become strong," and also emphasized, "To achieve this, we need the support and interest from all levels of society including the government, national assembly, and the medical sector on top of the efforts of the military."

Among the presentations that were given at this seminar, Dr. Moon, Chae Bong from KIDA gave a presentation titled 'current status of the military's medical system and direction for improvement' and Professor Cho, Chol Ho from the Daegu Oriental Medical College gave a presentation titled 'ways to strengthen the military's medical service'.

In particular, Professor Cho received a lot of attention with his call for the field hospitals to focus on high quality primary care and the ROK Armed Forces Capital Hospital to focus on becoming the best specialized hospital for gun wounds, lacerated wounds, orthopedics, etc.
