Exhibit Jeju Declaration at IUCN head office
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will make the Jeju Declaration, which was adopted for the first time at the 2012 World Conservation Congress, a monument of Jeju, and will exhibit it at the IUCN head office in mid-June.
The Jeju Declaration is a document produced during the congress last year, the effects of which may be far reaching over the coming years.
The World Conservation Congress, or WCC, was held in Jeju last September, and during the proceedings a message was delivered that nature is the key to solving the environmental and developmental problems that humans are facing. It was concluded that these issues must be discussed through forums and general assemblies.
The Jeju Declaration suggested a solution for global environmental issues based on nature and presented an environmental policy vision for the future international community.
A Jeju Special Self-Governing Province official said, "By exhibiting the Jeju Declaration at the world's largest environmental organization, we are further promoting the international consensus of Jeju as a World Environmental Capital City."
