According to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, the Cultural Heritage Administration has announced that they will deliberate about whether or not to name Jeju's black cow as a natural monument. If the animal was to be designated, it would mean much better blood conservation and management among the various stocks.
Currently, the lineage and disease control and prevention of Jeju’s black cows are managed by the Jeju Livestock Development Agency. The Agency would be better able to breed a stable lineage if the cows received the designation, and thus far the signs of the cows being labeled as such are positive.
Jeju's black cow is expected to achieve designation as a natural monument of the state-designated cultural properties after a review by the Cultural Heritage Administration in the next 30 days.
