Japanese Support Group for Female Forced Laborers Visited Gwangju

The Japanese support group for the female forced laborers from the period of Japanese colonialism visited Gwangju and took part in the eve of the 33rd anniversary event for the May 18th Democratic Movement.

Having been invited by the organizing committee for the event, the ‘civic support group for female forced laborers’stated that its members were inspired by the May 18th’s spirit.

Dakahashi Makoto, a co-representative from the group said, in his speech, that the May 18th Democratic Movement encouraged them to fight against unjust power such as some of the extreme right politicians in Japan.

Meanwhile, the group plans to come, once again, to Gwangju on the 24th once again and attend a trial calling for the compensation of damages that the female laborers incurred during the Japanese colonialism period.
