Gwangju Citizens Steps up Efforts to Establish ‘Hub City of Asian Culture in Gwangju’

A newly-established local non-profit civic group has stepped up efforts to the establish Gwangju as the Hub City of Asian Culture.

The newly-formed Society for Asian Cultural Contents plans to hold a ceremony to celebrate its founding this afternoon. The ceremony will include the appointment of Dr. Na Gyeong-Su, a professor of Korean Language, as group's first director. 

The public attention has been raised for what activities will be carried out by the new civic group as it has been organized voluntarily leading up to the opening of the Asian Cultural Complex which will be completed by 2015.

The new civic cooperative vowed to carry on with its purpose of making Gwangju the center of a new trend in Asian culture.

Plans include establishing international cooperation and encourage cultural education for citizens around Gwangju and Jeollanamdo in conjunction with the city of Gwangju and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
