Korea leads APEC entrepreneurs' new technology energy cooperation

Attends ABAC conference and announces topic on Smart Grid

Korean entrepreneurs, who attended APEC Business Advisory Council meeting, decided to lead the cooperation in the new technology energy field, including Smart Grid emerging as new growth engine.

FKI announced the Korea-led "Smart Grid" business project, a convergence-type new technology field, at the APEC Business Advisory Council meeting held in Singapore on April 3~6.

Smart Grid is regarded as the next-generation growth engine as it develops new technology through innovative convergence of such traditional technologies as energy, IT and SW, creating new jobs and markets. In particular, Smart Grid is the future-oriented field that Korea, which has secured a relatively superior position in the relevant technology sector, can field a leading position.

Meanwhile, there is a sign of change in Korean enterprises participating in an international conference after the inauguration of the new government. Under the recognition that entrepreneurs are facing difficulty in attending an international conference owing to burden on budget and shortage of professional manpower, excluding CEOs of several large companies, FKI plans to support the participation in global stage by female entrepreneurs and businessmen of mid-size and smaller companies from the dimension of the business circles.

ABAC is an official private advisory body to deliver the business circles' opinions to APEC-member leaders. About 150 business leaders of 21 APEC countries, including Poongsan Chairman Jin Ryu, are participating in the council. In particular, Ho Moon, vice chairman of Korea Smart Grid Association, and Woo Hyun Hwang, head of the KEPCO Smart Grid team, attended the Singapore meeting, along with the Korean delegation.
