Promotion of Daegu appealing to youngsters

Armed with a sense of the young, a total of 24 reporters, belonging to six college newspapers in North Gyeongsang Province, will set out on a promotional drive, on May 4, for the major tourist attractions in Daegu.

Daegu City has launched a fam tour to allow local college students to travel and promote Daegu’s tourist attractions especially popular among the younger generation: a program the city hopes will increase their affection for their community.

The delegation, which consists of four-to-five college reporters, each recommended by five local colleges, will start their tour from the memorial street for the late singer Kim Kwang-seok at Bangcheon Market and from there will head to the fashion, jewelry and oriental medicine towns. In the afternoon, the reporters will then tour the Gangjeong-Goryeong Reservoir, the ARC, the traditional family village Nampyeong Munsi Bonri Segeoji and Mabijeong.

After the fam tour, the reporters will write stories about these tourist attractions for their newspapers as well as promoting them on their personal blogs and other social networking services, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Daegu City will continue such a promotional drive for regional tourist attractions by collecting the opinions of college newspaper reporters in order to appeal, in particular, to the young generation.
