Enhancement of growth potential, job creation, top priorities for national integration

FKI hosted a symposium on national integration at the KT Office Building in Yeouido on May 29, sounding out a wide variety of opinions from all walks of life regarding job creation, industrial relations, and shared growth, the very bones of economic conflicts in our society.

The participants asserted that aggravation of income inequality and insufficient job opportunities caused by low growth constituted barriers to social cohesion, and that to realize national integration and job creation, both labor and management need to work closely with each other to establish industrial relations of tolerance and communication based on dialogue. Professionals differed in their approaches, however, with respect to a suitable business type designation system for small and medium enterprises(SMEs), intensifying the act governing subcontracting, and regulations on distribution.

In his opening remarks, FKI Vice Chairman Seung Cheol Lee said, "For us, national integration is a must in order to enter the ranks of the advanced economies. By carefully listening to various opinions, we will keep searching for clues to pending economic issues."

Chairman Jang Hee Yoo of the National Commission for Corporate Partnership(NCCP) stressed in his congratulatory address, "Sincerity of large companies need to move suppliers, and collaborating small and medium enterprises(SMEs) have to strive to evolve into competent business partners, rather than remain as simple aid recipients." "To achieve national integration, the NCCP will work to convert our DNA for sharing into a culture of shared growth," he added.

This symposium bears a great significance in that FKI has provided a venue for communication and discussions about alternatives for national integration by inviting experts representing labor, SMEs, and consumer organizations.
