FKI dispatches business mission to Kazakhstan

A 44-member Korean business delegation headed by Samsung C&P President Shin Kim, Chairman of the Korea-Kazakhstan Business Forum, visited Almaty, Kazakhstan, from May 30 to 31. In the steering committee meeting and the joint meeting of the bilateral business forum, FKI, the organizer of the Korean mission, officially made policy recommendations to the Kazakhstan government to help get rid of the bottlenecks to Korean corporate advancement into the Central Asian country.

Among the 13 specific barriers in five sectors included in the recommendations were entry visa-waiver for short-term stays of 30 to 60 days, and issuance of alien employment permits all the year round. The Federation further asked the Kazakhstan government to alleviate regulations on the current mandatory employment of a certain number of local residents for every alien employment permit, taking into account features peculiar to industries.

FKI plans to assist domestic businesses in overcoming barriers to make inroads into the Central Asian economic power, while working to expand the existing areas of cooperation in energy and resources into promising industrial sectors in the days to come.
