Chinese Modern Artist Zhang Wi visits Gwangju for an Exhibition


The Gwangju Museum of Art will host an invitated exhibition of China’s representative modern artist, Zhang Wi from April 18th to May 26th.

Well-known as a pioneer of the experimental ink art movement since the late 1980s, Zhang is one of the most influential modern artists of China and this exhibition is the first time he is being shown in Korea.

As opposed to traditional ink art which characterizes nature and objects as they are, Zhang Wi’s experimentsl ink art emphasizes the painter’s personal experiences and this is reflected in his drawings.

Visitors will be able to come across the world of unique ink art at the Gwangju Museum of Art from April 18th to May 26th.
